Thing #12

http://translate.google.com/translate_t?hl=en#
http://www.google.com/calendar/render?hl=en&pli=1

The two cool web tools that I chose were google calendar and google translator. I picked the calendar because it is very convenient to put important dates that I need to remember and also a way to let other people know about dates that are important and dates they should know about like my birthday! I think this tool would be useful in education because student can use the calendar to remember important dates like test dates or field trip days. It would get them more involved in being organized. The other tool I chose was google translator. It is very useful when you are looking at websites that are in other languages. This tool translates websites that are in other languages. This tool can be very useful in the classroom. You could use it to look at educational websites that might be in another language. It would allow students to widen their view of the world by seeing the world through the eyes of others.

Thing #11

I used the search tools to find the readers I wanted. This process was not so hard to do and was interesting to do. I found that the easiest blog search was google blog search. I added the forcedo tool that allows you to keep make a to-do list which is important to me because if I don't have things written down, they would never get done. I also added hulu which allows you to watch your favorite tv shows and it also has movies that you can watch for free! The other one I thought was pretty easy to navigate was Topix.net. I liked this tool because it deals with local news. I am addicted to the news so anything that has to do with the news excites me. The ones I found difficult was feedster, mostly because it would not open on my computer. I also found syndica8 a little difficult to navigate. I did find some useful blogs like news feeds that will keep me up to date on what is going on in Clarksville and around the world. I also found a variety of entertainment blogs that are fun to read. When I was looking through the google search, I found some interesting blog tools. One that I thought was cute was the yawn log. I found that unusual and fun. I wonder how many time I yawn a day?

Thing #10

This is the first time I have heard of RSS feed. The things I really liked about the RSS feeders is that everything comes straight to you and you don't have to search for anything. I didn't know which one I liked best so I subscribed to both the google reader and bloglines. I had a lot of fun looking for different things to follow. I think I may have gotten carried away.

I can use this in my personal life to keep up to date with the news and maybe some star gossip. I also like the fact that there are so many options to choose from. I can use it in the classroom to learn new vocabulary. I am following dictionary.com's Word of the Day feed which could be used in the classroom with students.

Teachers could use feeds to keep in touch with what other teachers are doing around the country. You would be able to follow blogs posted by other teachers and post your own blog that other teachers could follow.
